Buffalo Beer Week Day 7: It’s Almost The Weekend

Today is Thursday, so it’s almost the weekend, but to be honest, who the hell needs the weekend when it is Buffalo Beer Week? Today is one of the more anticipated days of this 10 day stretch with plenty of noteworthy events on the docket. While we have mentioned many times before and will mention it again later on in this very same article, since you’re going to need a ride from event to event, grab a Lyft.

So let’s get to it.

Gordon Biersch is offering $8 growler fills all day long on all beers except for their Belgian Dark Strong Ale.

It’s not truly fall until you drink a pint of beer from an actual pumpkin. Yes, Pearl Street Grill & Brewery hollow out a pumpkin, jam a tap in it, fill it with their Pumpkin Spice Ale and serve it directly to you. Grab a pint of Pearl Street’s Pumpkin Spice Ale poured directly from a real pumpkin. There will be pint specials, special ‘Pumpkin Spice Bomb Shots’ and maple-cinnamon sugar rimmed glasses. The first pour will be at 5pm from PSG head brewer Chris Herr. The 4th Annual Tapping of the Pumpkin happens downstairs at Brawler’s Deli.

Four glasses of different craft beerOne of the strongest aspects of the Buffalo beer scene is the collaboration not competition mantra. Well, showcasing that this time is West Shore Brewing and 12 Gates Brewing, who have teamed up on Dark Frontier Black IPA, which will be released at 12 Gates taproom 6pm. Clocking in at 7.1% ABV and 100 IBUs, Dark Frontier brings the Pacific Northwest to Western New York.

New York Beer Project is tapping their new Plum Vanilla Saison at 5pm. This is a very limited edition, and only available at NYBP, and certain select beer bars and restaurants. 10% of all beer you drink for the entire day, NYBP will donate to local Music Education in our schools.

Hamm & Fattey’s are offering $3 16oz. pours of Sloop Brewing beers today.

Tonight marks the return of alpacas to Hydraulic Hearth! Celebrate the release of Community Beer Works’ Alpaca Porter with Alpacas on site, and products from Thistle Creek Alpacas. Live music by Miller and The Other Sinners. Alpaca Porter is a rich dark ale brewed with English malts and American cherrywood-smoked malt. 4pm.

Community Beer Works are not only taking over the taps at Crabapples, they are taking over the speakers at the CBW/Crabapples Tap Takeover and Kazoo Jamboree. Among the CBW beer available will be the This Beer Kills Fascists Brett Saison, No Goal and Boats N Gose. When you get a CBW beer, you get a kazoo (one per person). Jukebox requests will be taken and, throughout the night, play your favorite songs so that everyone can all kazoo to the music. 8pm.

Let's toast with beer!Thin Man Brewery continues their Beer Week celebrations with a fresh cask of Burning Money IPA with Nelson hops. This IPA is drenched with flavors & aromas of pine & tropical fruits. Drink this one fresh – Orange juice, pineapple juice, mango juice, juice juice. 3pm.

Moor Pat is also tapping a special beer tonight, Pipeworks/ Toppling Goliath Double Creature Feature at 6pm. They will have Singlecut DDH Workers Are Going Home DIPA and a cornhole tournament ($20) with registration starting at 4pm.

Lilly Belle Meads are tapping a keg of Cy-Spi, a carbonated mead brewed with English ale yeast, local cider, and a dash of cinnamon and cardamon. It’ll be available all weekend or until it’s kicked. \

Shango Bistro will host a Beer & Music Happy Hour, 5-8pm, combining farm to table tapas, local brews and jazz by trumpeter Daniel Bassin.

Cleveland’s Fat Heads Brewery is invading the taps at Pizza Plant Transit, starting at 5pm. The beer available includes Headhunter, Sunshine Daydream, Bumbleberry Wheat and Spookytooth. At 5pm, Rusty Nickel Brewing are releasing their FemAle Series #4 beer, “Kolsch Hearted Peach,” a crisp kolsch brewed with peaches and cranberries. Free limited-edition pint glass for the first 100 people.

Hamburg Brewing is hosting live bluegrass music from Buffalo Music Hall of Fame members Mark and Chris Panfil featuring Scott and Katie Panfil and special guests. Tonight calls for folk, acoustic, and eclectic music with a Smoker’s Haven Cigar Table and fresh Hamburg Brewing beer. 7pm.

West Shore Brewing and Buffalo Brewing Company will also be open every day during Buffalo Beer Week. It’s also Steal The Pint Week at Buffalo Brewing, meaning that each time you order a pint, you keep the glass (while supplies last). Lafayette Brewing is also offering $3.50 pint specials all Buffalo Beer Week long.
